"The Toronto Maple Leafs announced today that Auston Matthews has been named the 26th captain in franchise history, succeeding John Tavares. Tavares, who has served as captain since October 2019, has been a pivotal leader both on and off the ice. He will continue to bring his veteran presence and guidance to the team as he remains an integral part of the Maple Leafs roster and leadership group. Matthews, 26, has been driven to lead since being drafted first overall in 2016. With a Hart Memorial Trophy, three Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophies, the Ted Lindsay Award, a Calder Memorial Trophy and All-Star team designations, his unwavering dedication have earned him respect within the locker room and across the league."

What is "NHL 36: Jack Zimmermann" about? : )
Hi! Okay, you know those videos the NHL makes which are basically a life in the day of? I wanted to write one about Jack just as he's about to retire. Here's a snippet...
At 40, Jack Zimmermann has a career most people dream of: three Stanley Cups, two Conn Smythe Trophies, a Hart Memorial Trophy, an Art Ross, Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy, and a pioneer in many ways both in the NHL and LGBTQIA+ communities.  On the verge of retirement, during his last season, we follow him through a roadie, family life, and more.  Jack Zimmermann on the art of having it all and knowing when to say goodbye on NHL 36.
February 18, 8:35 a.m.
CAMERA PANS TO A YELLOW HOUSE WITH A BLUE DOOR
A voice is heard from the other side of the door.
“Shhh!  Puck, stop!”
The door opens and there stands Jack Zimmermann, sockless wearing basketball shorts and a sweatshirt. Jack stands and holds his dog back by the collar.
“Au Pied,” he whispers kindly to the dog who obediently walks back inside the house.
“Hey, hello!  Come on in,” he quickly says with a smile.  “Good morning! Come in, please. Welcome to the Bittlemann household!”

4. most embarrassing hockey player interaction if this means like personal interactions with players then I have none but I do remember meeting a guy (like an adult man) (he was studying to be an ethics teacher as well, wtf) who thought it was funny that he harassed nick suzuki's gf on instagram and got blocked by her. so that's embarrassing for him (like youre a grown man ??? you see nothing wrong with that? well, okay)
but I mean it's a recent one but nothing is really gonna take "most embarrassing hockey player moment" away from carey price's "the montreal canadiens are proud to select. david……………….. *looks around frantically*"
16. favorite hockey movie I actually haven't seen any but I will offer up a bit of information as compensation:
the 2005 maurice richard biopic The Rocket was supposed to have a lot more hockey/on-ice scenes. however a large amount ended up having to be cut because the assistant camera, or focus puller, was bad enough at their job that most of the scenes that were filmed on-ice ended up super blurry. this was told to my class by our film/video teacher, whose friend was I think the director of photography or something. (he knew someone who worked on it at least)
21. do you believe in any hockey curses? boy oh boy. I'm having a hard time forming an opinion on that? like yea maybe a curse is the only way we can justify canada's entire position in hockey rn. normally I would say shit happens, you know, we got way less teams than the usa but come on. thirty years? thirty fucking years? something is afoot
also of course there's the notoriously cursed leafs who will never know joy again but that's not really my territory

Willie Eldon O'Ree CM ONB (born October 15, 1935) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player, best known for being the first Black player in the National Hockey League (NHL). O'Ree played as a winger for the Boston Bruins. O'Ree is referred to as the "Jackie Robinson of ice hockey" for breaking the black colour barrier in the National Hockey League, and has stated publicly that he had met Jackie Robinson when he was younger. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in November 2018. Also in 2018, the NHL instituted the annual Willie O’Ree Community Hero Award in his honour, to "recognise the individual who has worked to make a positive impact on his community, culture or society to make people better through hockey."   “I stepped onto the ice and I had butterflies in my stomach. The Canadiens were the best team in the league at that time. They were winning Cup after Cup. Maurice “Rocket” Richard, Jacques Plante, Bernie Geoffrion, Doug Harvey … these were superstars of the highest order. The Rocket, in particular, was one of my idols growing up. To share the ice with these guys, and play against them in an NHL game, was surreal. Even more surreal: We won, 3-0. Now, I wasn’t just an NHL player. I was a winner, too.”   #Willie Oree #BlackHistoryMonth #BHM #HansPoppeArt #Artist #Toronto #Canada  #Hockey #DigitalArt #Portraiture #NHL (at Toronto, Ontario) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cox5LWCv7FG/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Entendre Maurice Richard (lire)
